Volunteers
If you are an attorney and would like to volunteer or contribute financially to the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program please complete our Enrollment Form. Volunteer attorneys can select an area(s) of law in which they would like to accept case referrals, choose a Clinic or other program they would like to participate in or choose to make a financial contribution. Please complete the enrollment form and and return it to the Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program if you are interested in joining our mission. The Volunteer Form is for non-lawyer volunteers such as law students, paralegals, social workers, VISTA workers, and others who would like to volunteer. | Types of Cases We Can Help With- Adoption/Legitimations
- Bankruptcy Consumer (to include utility, credit problems, defense of contract actions, insurance)
- Defense of Tort Claims
- Driver’s License or Tag Suspension/Revocation
- Education/Special Education
- Employment (to include employment discrimination, employee benefits, etc.)
- Family Law (divorce not including the need for temporary orders; category includes alimony, child support, custody, legal separation, and post-divorce proceedings)
- Housing (to include private landlord/tenant, fair housing disputes)
- Immigration/Naturalization
- Landlord/Tenant
- Powers of Attorney
- Probate (simple wills, small estates & guardianships/conservatorships)
- Real Property (to include deeds, mortgage foreclosures, evictions)
- Social Security Issues/Benefits
- Tax
